Describe ecological injustices in the united states

Problem: Ecological Injustices in the United States

In the United States, there are a lot of different ecological injustices that affect people in the BIPOC community everywhere. In Flint Michigan: the systematic failure to provide safe drinking water to the predominantly Blacks, lower income population, leading to a widespread of lead poisoning. Uranium mining in New Mexico: Indigenous communities suffered from high contamination rates of air, water and soil due to radioactive uranium mining, often time without the means of relocation. These affect the lower socio-economic group more than other group in this country. These underlined ecological injustices are denying the BIPOC communities the right to have safe, clean, adequate water and living areas. The access to these essential resources is a fundamental human right, and social workers are essential in empowering community members to get them. Need Assignment Help?

Population interest:

The population of my focus or interest are the BIPOC communities because they are the lower socio-economic group. These communities faced significant ecological injustices, often live in proximity toxic waste and mining facilities. Most of the time when a community is exposed to these chemicals, they don't even know it until there is research that done. State officials often do their best to site away these facilities from residential and public facing areas.

Social Problem

The social problem, this community suffers from systemic ecological injustices, characterized by limited access to safe and clean drinking water and protection from hazardous environment. The thing that I am going to focus on is the lack of timely government response neglect of the community and systematic racism that prioritized economic savings over human health. Both Flint water crisis and the uranium mining crisis highlight how socioeconomic status intensified these ecological injustices. Lower income communities of lack of pollical leverage, which leads to limited resources and health disparities.
