• Describe each of the three major schools of thought, structural functionalism, symbolic interactionism, and conflict theory.
• Compare and contrast how each of the three perspectives would explain the existence and nature of the following aspects of society: a) the family and b) the criminal justice system.
• Explain how these parts of society come into being in the first place, why they are needed by a society, and how they change in a given society as time goes by.
