Module Learning Outcomes - The following LOs are achieved by the student by completing the assignment successfully
1. Identify, install, work and troubleshoot with computer accessories.
2. Describe different hardware devices and explain how they work.
Assignment Objective - This assignment is designed to test knowledge of the students related to Computer hardware and its operation.
Assignment Tasks - The students is required to refer to appropriate resources (PowerPoint Slides, Videos of A+ certificate, Journal papers from E-library, etc.) and answer the following questions:
a. Personal computer hardware is very similar between desktops and laptops. But there are some differences in the smaller laptop form factor. Those unique differences are found in laptop hardware. One thing that you'll notice immediately when sitting down at a laptop is that the keyboard is very different. Further, the components that we use to store information are also quite different on a laptop.
Based on the above, discuss the differences between the laptops and desktops with discussing the parts of the laptops and how they are different.
b. A mobile device is a computer small enough to hold and operate in the hand. Typically, any handheld computer device will have an LCD or OLED flat screen interface, providing a touch screen interface with digital buttons and keyboard or physical buttons along with a physical keyboard.
In light of that, talk in details about different types of the mobile devices with some examples of their uses in the personal or work life. You may also include some pictures.
c. A big part of information technology is solving problems. In most organizations, troubleshooting a problem involves a series of steps. These steps are designed to give you a logical path to follow that will give you a way to troubleshoot the problem quickly and easily. If you're having problems with your hardware, then the underlying operating system is not going to be working very well either. So you might want to evaluate the issue and see if there are any preventative measures that you can implement, so that this issue doesn't occur again.
Consider yourself as an IT technician and some staff called you to troubleshoot any hardware failure. Discuss some of those common hardware problems with a detailed causes and solutions of those hardware problems. You should at least discuss two problems.
d. The motherboard is the foundation of many computing devices. One of the most obvious characteristics of a motherboard is the physical form factor, the size of the motherboard itself. We're usually selecting a motherboard and then trying to find a case that will fit the particular motherboard form factor that we've selected. The motherboard that you choose will have a basic layout. And it's very difficult to add or subtract from that layout once you've selected a motherboard. As a computer specialist, differentiate between the different types of motherboards form factors with appropriate pictures and proper explanation with examples of the use of each type of the motherboard.
e. Based on Technical Support Fundamentals course answer the following question:
Discuss the different types of storage devices suitable diagrams and example of the uses scenarios of each one.
