Describe diastolic dysfunction


Problem:

One of the patent's discharge diagnoses is diastolic dysfunction which is a:

a) decline in performance of one or both ventricles of the heart when it is contracting to propel blood out of the heart

b) Condition that occurs when the lungs cannot remove all of the carbon dioxide the body produces. This causes body fluids, especially the blood, to become too acidic.

c) Decline in performance of one or both ventricles of the heart when it is relaxed and filling with incoming blood that is being returned from the body through the inferior and superior vena cavae

d) heart valve disorder of the pulmonary valve which seperates the right ventricle of the heart of pulmonary artery
