1. Patrick Henry's Speech was considered to be one of the most impactful speeches in American history. What part(s) of his speech do you think was so impactful and why? What similarities and differences do you see between this work and Paine's Common Sense? 2. Both the "Dunmore Proclamation" and the "Sentiments of an American Woman" were written on behalf of minorities (slaves and women respectively.) However, the "Dunmore Proclamation" was written by a white male, someone outside of the social group, whereas the "Sentiments" were written by a woman, an insider. How do you think this insider versus outsider perspective effects each document?
3. Was this your first time reading the Declaration of Independence from start to finish? (It's ok to be honest, no judgment here.) If this was your first time, what did you think about it? Any parts that stood out to you?
4. If you have read The Declaration before, has your perspective of it changed at all after reading these other sources and studying the origins of the Revolution in this course? Are there parts that you particularly like, (or dislike)?
