Problem: Respond to text. One area of my community that highlights land, water and air would be the waterfront along the Hudson River in Hoboken. I spend a lot of time there walking, exercising and enjoying the amazing view of the river and New York City skyline. The land provides space for parks, walking paths and recreation, while the Hudson River is a very important water resource and habitat for wildlife. Air is something we experience every day, especially when I am running along this path in the morning. From my experiences, these features are closely connected. For example, the river influences the air around it by regulating temperatures and creating breezes along the waterfront. Rainfall from the atmosphere affects both the land and water by providing moisture for pants and contributing to the river's water levels. The condition of the land can also impact water quality through erosion. Several scientific fields study these features in great detail. Geology and soil science focus on land, hydrology, Oceanography study water and meteorology and atmospheric science study air and weather patterns. I have learned about these topics through science classes, personal research and experiencing the outdoors firsthand. Understanding how land, water and air interact help us better appreciate the environment around us and recognize how important it is to protect these natural systems for our future generations.
