Problem

I. Give an example of a market penetration, a retail format development, a market expansion and a diversification growth strategy that Toys R' Us might use.

II. Using the composite segmentation approach, develop a profile for two different target markets of the Real Canadian SuperStore. Outline the differences in the retail mixes that would be most appealing to these target markets. (Minimum of 4 different segmentation bases to be mentioned)

III. Contrast the retail mix of a discount store and a traditional supermarket. Feel free to use a table.

IV. For your favourite retail store, describe the aspects of store design, layout and visual merchandising that appeal to you.

V. You are a consultant to Visions (electronics stores) and Aritzia (clothing stores), two very different types of stores. What would you say is the single most important factor in choosing a site for each one? Explain your choice: the site and the reasons why you picked it.
