The Center for Leadership (Leslie, 2009) stated that leaders are not adequately prepared to address the challenges organizations are facing and will face in the future: "Today's leadership capacity is insufficient to meet future leadership requirements" (p. 9).
The areas that leaders must be proficient in include strategic planning, leading people, inspiring commitment, managing change, employee development, balancing personal life and work, and decisiveness.
