Question 1: What would happen to the bacterial cells if we forgot to add X-gal to our plates? What would happen if we forgot to add IPTG to our plates?
Question 2: What would happen if we inserted the jellyfish GFP protein into the lacZ gene in the same reading frame as the b-gal enzyme, so that when the cell starts to translate the b-gal enzyme, it actually translates the GFP protein? What would we have to add to the agar plates in order to see colonies that fluoresce green?
