Consider a slab of thickness L, thermal conductivity k and of very large surface area. The volumetric heat generation in the material is g(x) = g0exp(-ax), where g0 and a are constants, and x is the depth into the material. The surface at x = 0 is to be considered perfectly insulated, while the surface at x = L is kept at zero temperature. Derive an expression for the steady temperature in the material.
