If the Renaissance marks a return to Classical (i.e. Ancient) intellectual and artistic (including literary) values, themes, and genres, which of those works written in Britain demonstrate that most profoundly and how so? What do these sometimes very different works have in common? Is there a way to characterize the literature of the British Renaissance?
