With this problem, you will learn more about the changing perceptions and the power of these changing perceptions to redefine how you perceive the quality of care from both consumer and provider perspectives.

A. Define what is meant by the patient experience.

B. Describe the changes in consumer perceptions that evolved from the two path-breaking publications, with special emphasis on how the information about patient perceptions is now gathered and measured for subsequent evaluation.

C. Speculate on how these changes in patient perceptions may have affected behaviors at your regional facility and will continue to affect behaviors in the future.

D. Be certain to address the following as you response

a. Include a discussion of the movement toward a high-reliability organization.

b. Determine who is ultimately responsible for quality within an integrated system.

c. Determine the role of your regional facility in ensuring quality and patient safety.

d. Explain how your definition of quality fits with the changes that have occurred. Would you modify or alter your definition as a result of completing this assignment?
