You will apply key sociological concepts to identify the pros and cons of each approach. You will be asked to critically assess the effect that race and social class have on the urban landscape.
Before beginning this activity, be sure to read the Module Notes and the assigned readings and viewings. Use as much detail from the readings and other learning materials in the module as possible to answer the following questions.
First, define urban sprawl and urban renewal.
Next, identify the major pros and cons of each approach to solving a city's problems.
Discuss how these pros and cons are different for social groups depending upon race and social class.
Which do you believe is the better approach to managing cities? Why?
