1) Define the terms sensation, perception and transduction.
2) Explain how our visual stimulus works including the anatomy of the eye and role that rods and cones play for vision.
3) Explain how color vision works and what the causes of color blindness are.
4) Explain how our auditory stimulus works including the anatomy of the ear and the role that the cochlea plays in hearing.
5) Explain the biology of somatosenses including the various body senses and the role that the sensory receptors play (such as kinesthetic receptors).
6) Explain the biology of the chemical senses (olfaction and gustation) including the anatomy of the tongue, the nose, and the sensory receptor cells for these two senses.
7) Explain the individual differences in perceptions when it comes to the chemical senses.
8) Identify and describe the five principles of perception.
9) If you had to lose one of your senses, which one would you surrender first and why? Support your response.
10) Describe a time when you experienced excruciating pain (psychological and/or physical). What did this experience teach you and how did you apply this experience to your life in a meaningful way?
