I. Outside of the body)Throughout the pathway, describe the anatomical structures that air passes through, their histology and their function. Identify the composition and partial pressures both oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the pathway. Some key terms that should be included: internal/external respiration, ventilation, cellular respiration return of the air back to the alveoli myocardium alveoli 1. detailed analysis of the pathway air takes as it passes through the body: (e.g. outside of the body

III. Compare and contrast the mechanisms of quiet/forced inspiration and expiration. Define intrapulmonary pressure and explain what happens to both during inspiration and expiration.

IV. Define the volumes and capacities associated with spirometry including their expected values orranges. How would volumes change with eupnea, apnea, dyspnea and tachypnea

V. Define oxygen unloading and affinity and identify the effects of pH on both. Define the Bohr Effect

VI. Explain how respiration is controlled through the use of the brainstem and various receptors
