From the time of Christ until the time of Luther, a major hermeneutical tool was the practice of allegorization. Today most evangelical scholars reject allegorization as an illegitimate hermeneutical device.
• Define allegorization and show why this long-used method of interpreting Scripture is now repudiated.
• Contrast the genre of allegory with the method of allegorizing and show why one is considered legitimate and the other illegitimate.
