Debate - extinction, catastrophe, natural theology, function

Problem: How would I start an essay based on this prompt?

A group of BU students found a fossil skeleton when they were digging a deep hole in the ground. When asked why they were digging a pit on campus, they replied, "Never mind that! Just look at this skeleton. Have you ever seen anything like it?" Three individuals in the group were excellent natural historians, named Georges Cuvier, William Buckland, and Charles Darwin respectively. They had a heated discussion about the skeleton. What do you think they might have said? (All or most of these terms would have appeared in their debate - extinction, catastrophe, natural theology, function, correlation, evolution, and natural selection.
