Database administrators are responsible for the database technology, database design and construction consultation, security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning. Many large businesses do have a DBA, however, in smaller businesses, these roles may be combined or assigned to one or more systems analysts.
People in smaller organizations have benefits due to the many hats they wear, but can't that also be a curse. If that one person leaves the organization, what will they do?
