1. Discuss the difference between cultural analysis and racial analysis (as presented in Hartigan and lecture)? Use the Apache case to suggest the difference. Pay particular attention to how race and racism are forms of structural violence? What do anthropologists and others mean by “structural”?
2. During the course we discussed the importance of thinking about race as a system that classifies peoples and the concrete outcomes it produces. In your opinion, why is so relevant to think about race in these terms? What aspects of racism become apparent by using this particular framework?
