Essay -
Each student is required to write a five page essay (approx. 1,250 words) critiquing the contemporary relevance (practicality) of two key terms (e.g., marriage, conflict, divorce, homosexuality, community, intimacy, or ritual) found within Sobonfu Some's The Spirit of Intimacy (2000).
Definition and Contextualization: Within the body of the essay, students should select one or more principles identified in the text. In addition to identifying how Some defines and explains the term(s)/principle, students should define the term(s) more broadly by expounding on the term and placing it within a familiar context (e.g., your personal experience, a well-known film, play, novel, etc.) using one or more examples and (if necessary) critiquing the limitations of Some's definition.
