In the semester-long group project, you will need to critique the current marketing efforts, and then suggest a marketing plan (due only at the end of the semester) for a REAL product or service offered by a REAL company.

1. Work in your group.

2. Together with your group members, decide on a company for your group project. This does not need to be a company in Cedar or even in Utah. However, note that you will be studying this company in great detail, you will be studying the environment the company operates in, you will be studying their competitors, their product line, the challenges faced by the company, the mission of the company, their pricing policies, how the company perceives itself, how it sells and where, etc. It is therefore very important to pick a company where you know someone or have contacts. This person(s)

should be someone you have access to, and should be willing to help you anti make time for you.

3. After you have identified the company, pick a product or service offered by this company. Over the course of the semester, you will analyze the current marketing mix for this product/service, and then you will suggest improvements to the current marketing mix (detailed instructions for the project will be provided in due course). Thus, in addition to having a contact within the company, it will be helpful for you to pick a product/service that interests you and that you would enjoy working with for the entire semester.

4. Write a paragraph or two on the company your group decides to work on.

Also write a paragraph or two about the product or service. Provide brief info on your contact(s) in this company.

Be prepared to talk about it in class if called upon to do so.
