Critique of the methodology

Topic: Biostatistics

Description:

1) Define:

*Random number generator

*Random number table

2) Healey # 6.2 (Book)

Complete A & B.

Note 1: rather than drawing 50 samples of size 2, use 10 samples.

Use the random number generator: https://stattrek.com/statistics/random-number-generator.aspx to pull 20 numbers. Use the first 2 numbers generated as sample 1, the 2nd 2 numbers generated as sample 2, etc.

Provide the list (copy and paste) of random numbers generated here:

Note 2: The population mean is the mean of all of the ages at the end of the problem.
Note 3: A frequency polygon appears on page 149 (same as what I drew in class)
Note 4: Show all work for A & B and answer the questions completely.

3) Find a recent survey (search on line/newspapers/ for: Pew, Harris, Gallop, NPR, CNN, Fox News polls, etc.). Bring in the actual article. In addition, attach YOUR critique of the methodology and the way the results were presented (hints: did they use appropriate sampling methodology (identify: simple random, systematic, stratified, cluster, etc.) were they accurate in their calculations? Should they have used confidence intervals instead of a point estimate or visa versa? Why? Did they disclose their sampling frame (i.e. how they selected their participants?; how many people were surveyed? ). Did the data they collected answer the question? Were their conclusions consistent with/supported by the data? Attach the article plus your responses to the above questions to the homework.

4) Healey 7.1 (problem a-f)-you must provide the full calculation and interpretation for each….. (from the book)
