Please read the HBS article "Saving Money, Saving Lives" to answer the questions below.
Although this article talks about The Duke Children's Hospital (DCH), it is an extension of the Parkview Hospital you did in the prior analysis. Make specific reference to the article when answering the questions.
1) The Duke Children's Hospital realized that they needed to make changes to their cost system. Put yourself in the shoes of Chief Medical Director Jon Meliones and write a memo to the board of the hospital describing the new cost system (i.e. balanced scorecard) and the primary reasons they are used.
2) Critically evaluate DCH implementation of the new cost system. Identify any strengths and weaknesses.
3) Do you think the adoption of the new cost system at DCH was responsible for the turnaround of its performance?
4) Replicate/design the cost system (i.e., balanced scorecard) for DCH.
