A Conservative Government was elected by a majority vote in May 2015.  David Cameron, the Prime Minister, stated at the time that his government was committed to a referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union. 

 

Critically discuss the implications of this statement for Parliamentary Sovereignty if the referendum voted in support for leaving the EU.
