In 1989, Kimberle Crenshaw, a feminist, critical race theory, and legal studies scholar, conceptualized intersectionality as a methodology by which to understand how categories such as race, gender, sexuality, class, and ability interact simultaneously to oppress "bothered" groups in society.
Crenshaw's theory has had great influence across disciplines, as it provides a critical lens through which to examine a variety of c ultural materials.
Perform an analysis of two texts from our course to illustrate your understanding of how literary figure work at the intersection of gender and related categories.
