Use the Episodic/Focused SOAP Template and create an episodic/focused note about the patient in the case study to which you were assigned using the episodic/focused note template provided in the Week resources.
CASE STUDY: Numbness and Pain
A 47-year-old obese female complains of pain in her right wrist, with tingling and numbness in the thumb and index and middle fingers for the past 2 weeks. She has been frustrated because the pain causes her to drop her hair-styling tools.
Using the Episodic/Focused SOAP Template:
• Create documentation or an episodic/focused note in SOAP format about the patient in the case study to which you were assigned.
• Provide evidence from the literature to support diagnostic tests that would be appropriate for your case.
• List five different possible conditions for the patient's differential diagnosis, and justify why you selected each.
Question 1. Based upon the ANA Guide to the Code of Ethics for Nurses Part II, in at least 5 sentences, discuss the following: When is it imperative to refuse to participate in a practice that conflicts with your values?
Question 2. Based upon the ANA Guide to the Code of Ethics for Nurses Part II, in at least 5 sentences, discuss the following: What can we do collaboratively to shape a future for nursing that fosters ethical integrity in all dimensions of practice?
Question 3. Reflect on one way that the information in this presentation will be useful as a nurse in either a patient care activity, a research situation, in seeking higher education or in collaborating with a colleague.
