Purpose of Assignment

Students gain experience conducting an internal and external environmental analysis for their proposed new division and its business model. They will also gain valuable experience in conducting a SWOTT analysis for their proposed division.

Conduct an internal and external environmental analysis for your proposed new division and its business model.

Part 1

Create a SWOTT table for your proposed business. Your environmental analysis should take into account all of the following factors. Therefore your SWOTT table should include 8 external and 11 internal forces. Think of something for all of them....even Global. You may not intent for your business to go global...but I bet there are some global forces that may need to be aware of. For each factor, identify the one primary strength, weakness, opportunity, threat, and trend, and include it in your table.

Compose a maximum of 1,400-word synopsis in which you analyze relevant forces and trends from the list above. (Words in the SWOTT table do NOT count toward the overall word count of the paper)

Your analysis must include the following:

• Discuss 7 forces/trends that you feel MOST influence your company. Of the 7, be sure to include economic, legal and regulatory forces and trends.

• Critique how well the organization adapts to change.

• Analyze and explain the supply chain of the new division of the existing business. Share your plans to develop and leverage core competencies and resources within the supply chain in an effort to make a positive impact on the business model and the various stakeholders.

• Discuss the primary internal organizational considerations for the development of a strategic plan.

• Identify the major issues and/or opportunities the company faces based on your analysis.

Each of the items in the table of contents should have a SECTION Heading within the Paper

TIP - Keep in mind that Strengths and Weaknesses are internal forces...and Opportunities, Threats, and Trends are external forces. Consider how these affect YOUR company that you are creating for this class. I recommend that you create a table within your document (not a separate spreadsheet...best to use the template I provided).

I have attached an example of a SWOTT table (template). The cells that are highlighted with color are the ones you should complete for that specific factor (S&W = internal and OTT = external). Feel free to use this as your table...or create your own if you would prefer. DO NOT submit this table with the assignment instructions included.

Be sure to carefully read all the requirements for this assignment...there are a few that are often missed.

Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines.
