Create a one-page evaluation instrument for use in

PROJECT: Move a baking company’s fastest-growing business to a larger building across town. The location must accommodate a large kitchen, an ample storefront, and added space to meet with large clients. The location must be prime for foot traffic and parking. Some remodeling money is available to bring a prime location into an appropriate workspace. All equipment must be moved or replaced with newer baking technology. The new location and technology will require the retraining of employees prior to opening day. Training methods, timelines, and the opening day will be determined by the project manager. The move must be “marketed”, that is, communicated to current and potential customers in a way that is positive and increases business. The move must happen with minimal disruption to business and the bakery should not be closed for any significant period of time.

ASSIGNMENT:

Create a one-page evaluation instrument for use in assessing how well the project team, team members, and project manager performed. The instrument will be completed by project stakeholders, anonymously. The feedback received will be used to improve the management of future projects.

When developing the instrument, keep in mind that the feedback must be easy to aggregate and summarize. It is important to include a place for written comments; however, a series of open-ended questions would be very difficult to tabulate and compile. Instead, consider rating scales or questions that provide a limited number of choices. Another advantage of this is that it will make completing the survey faster for respondents.

It is also important to be able to identify the “role” of the person completing the survey. For example, if a software program was installed, the opinion of a system user can be much more telling than that of a manager overseeing the implementation. Identify the potential roles of those filling out the survey and then provide those as checkbox options; this will allow respondents to remain anonymous.

Finally, the feedback of the respondents is a very important element to project closure phase and their impression of the survey instrument itself could have some impact on the way it is completed so take the time to ensure the format of the survey is professional, easy to follow, and aesthetically pleasing.

Summary of Survey Requirements:

· Instrument must be limited to one page

· Respondents must remain anonymous

· Questions must be easy to tabulate & aggregate

· Respondents must have the opportunity to share a comment

· Respondent’s “role” must be identified

· Instrument must be professional, easy to follow, and aesthetically pleasing
