Creating a Marketwatch Account and Joining the CSR 342 Game:
Follow these steps to join the game:
Step 1: Go to marketwatch's website to create an account. (Accounts are free and you should not have to pay anything to create an account.)
Step 2: Once you enter the registration details. Marketwatch will send you a verification email (Your spam filter may block the verification email. Check your spam filter for the verification).
Note: If you are unable to receive the verification email follow Step 2a
Step 2a: After following steps 1 and 2 click on the login button and click on forgot password and provide the email that you registered with. You will get a reset password link and you need to follow the on screen instructions and then continue to step 3.
Step 3: Once you have your account set up, go to marketwatch's website. Under find a game, use the following credentials:
Game name (in the search bar) is ‘CSR342SPRING2018' Password is 'investments'
Step 4: Once you are in the game you can start trading under the "Trading" tab, where you can type the ticker of the respective stock/fund/ETF you want to trade. Please note that Marketwatch's search recognizes only the tickers (e.g. the ticker for Apple is "AAPL", Google is "GOOGL") so make sure you type in the correct tickers. You can find the stock ticker on Yahoo finance or Google Finance websites.
Budget Assignment-
Guidelines for writing report - Starting 16th Jan till April 13th you will be tracking your income and expenses into the account you have just created. Please enter your expenses on daily basis in the following categories
• Housing (Monthly basis)
• Supermarket and Grocery stores
• Gasoline and Automotive
• General Merchandise (retail purchases from Wal-mart, Target etc)
• Restaurant and Bars
At the end of the semester you are required to write a report (approximately 2-3 pages on word document, 11 font size, and single spacing) show your spending pattern over the last 6-7 weeks and comment on your observations of your spending pattern. Do you see room for improvement if so what areas? Justify your answers by providing a pie chart (available on the Budget tool)

• Create a daily budget plan for Mayand describe it in great detail.
• The budget plan has to be tabulated in a table/calendar format.
• Describe two specific action plans you are going to initiate in order to stay with your budget.
Discussion: Practitioner Interview
For this assignment, you will find and interview someone who works in some area of marketing, advertising, or public relations. Your interview should be a short 20-minute discussion about what your interviewee thinks about working in their field, what the challenges and benefits are, and what advice she or he would give for someone getting involved in the advertising industry.
You will then write a short 2-page double-spaced response on your interview, listing the questions you asked, and summarizing what your interviewee said. You should include quotes for each question on your assignment. You will be graded on the quality of the questions you asked and responses you gleaned from your interviews. You will also need to list the person you interviewed and her/his job title and company.
