Homework: Learning Activity- Creating a Severance Package
Completing this activity will help you prepare for the upcoming homework. Think of it as practice for the homework. As such, focus on content, not formatting. Your paper should be no more than 1 to 2 pages in length.
For this activity:
I. Create a severance package for a separated employee in a fictitious company.
1. At a minimum, include:
i. Position differences.
ii. Years of service.
iii. Actual compensation amounts.
iv. Any additional benefits that you want to add.
II. Determine whether severance pay is taxable.
III. Create a chart that depicts the timeline of the disbursement of the compensation.
1. Use Microsoft Word or an equivalent application, such as OpenOffice.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
i) The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
ii) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
iii) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
