Module Overview:
What comes to your mind when you hear the word "unethical"?
According to Webster, unethical means "unwilling to adhere to proper rules of a profession or lacking in moral principles" ("Unethical," 2011). Nowhere do you see the word "illegal" in the definition. That means that something could be unethical but not illegal.
For example, your friend calls you up in panic because she just got fired from work. She and a few colleagues were planning to go out for St. Patrick's Day and wore green shirts to work. The company didn't like it, and even though it was explained that no one was protesting against the company, the company fired all eight people wearing green shirts.
This module introduces you to the legal and ethical principles necessary for a successful business enterprise. You will explore the juxtaposition of freedom versus responsibility and examine an ethical-decision-making "toolkit" developed for business leaders. Unethical. (2011). 1. Select any four of the following fundamental theories:
o The Ten Commandments
o The Justification of Human Rights
o Utilitarianism
o Aristotelian Ethics
o International Ethics Standards for Business
o Distributive Justice
o The Entitlement Theory
o Fundamental International Rights
o Model Business Principles
o The Caux Principles
2. Using the Argosy University online library resources or the Internet, conduct research to analyze the ethical principles of the selected theories.
3. Create a chart in a Microsoft Word document comparing the four selected theories. Your chart must include the following:
o A description of the basic tenets of each theory.
o A description of the historical or social setting of each theory.
o An explanation of how the ethical principles of the selected theories apply to a corporate setting.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
