1. All human societies must successfully adapt to their physical environments in order to prosper. Discuss at least 3 ways the societies studied this semester had acclimated themselves to their environments.
2. The distribution of political power in one of the core issues facing all societies. Discuss how political power was distributed in three of the following periods: the Water Empires, Classical Athens, the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire, medieval Europe states.
3. The impact of Christianity was one of the major themes of the second part of the course- although Christianity changed over the period. Discuss 3 ways Christianity changed over the period from Paul’s Epistle to the Romans to Luther’s Appeal to the Christian Nobility of the German Nation.
4. Compare and contrast the reasons for the collapse of the Water Empires, Alexander the Great’s Greek Empire, and the Western Roman Empire.
