Contribution of the potential energy of the string

Suppose you began taking data when m1 was on the ground and stopped taking data at the exact moment that m2 touched the ground (or when m2 is at y = 0 m, where y = 0 m is the floor of the lab). What is the contribution of the potential energy of the string? Hint: think about the symmetry of the system, and where the center of mass of the string might be.
