Detailed Scheduling
The planning model analyzed in this chapter has as a viewpoint the overall optimization of the Merchant Marine Fleet. Contrast this viewpoint with the attitude of the owner or a small subset of this fleet who is interested in optimizing the performance of his available ships. Indicate what should be the characteristics of an appropriate model to support his decisions. Particular emphasis should be given to the degree of detail required in this new model, and the timing implications. Suggest a hierarchical procedure that links the planning and the detailed scheduling models.
