The language used in a contract may sometimes be confusing. There are many cases in which the contractor may have misinterpreted the contract language. Using the search terms "contract language misinterpretation," respond to the following:
- Identify a case where the contractor may have misinterpreted the contract language.
- Summarize the facts and findings of the case.
- Discuss these facts and findings and relate them to your experience and intended career path.
- Discuss how legal issues can be avoided because of contract language misinterpretation.
- Be sure to properly cite the case.

Part 2
You are the project manager for the construction of a new strip mall. There are multiple contractors on the site, one of whom is continuously causing problems. Every time you visit the site, this contractor has questions to ask and complaints about the work of others. One day, the contractor submits a claim for delay. You believe that the claim may actually be justified but the contractor has submitted no documentation in support of the claim.
Analyze the scenario and answer the following questions:
- How would you respond to the contractor's claim?
- What bearing does the contractor's attitude have in these circumstances?
- How will you respond if the contractor refuses to provide supporting documentation stating that the facts are a matter of record?
- What documentation can the contractor submit?
- What are the pertinent statutes that apply to the situation?
