Contraceptive methods
The safe and easy methods to prevent pregnancy are called contraceptive methods.
i) Contraceptive methods followed by females are :
1) Use of harmonal tablets which prevent ovulation.
2) Use of intra uterine devices which are kept in the uterus to prevent the sperm from reaching the ovum
3) Use of spermicidal drugs which kill the sperms.
4) In recent years efforts are being made to develop nasal sprays and vaccines to prevent ovulation.
5) In addition surgical methods are also available in which the fallopian tubule in females are blocked Tubectomy.
ii) Contraceptive methods followed by men are :
1) Use of condomes.
2) Use of drugs that prevent the formation of sperms. The surgical methods are also available for males in which vas deferens is cut and blocked. They are called Vasectomy.
