Contemporary perspectives in trinitarian theology

Topic: Theology

Description:

You are to write a 1000 Word review of the Book:

John Thompson’s Modern Trinitarian Perspectives, (New York, Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1994).

In your review you should:

1. Provide a brief outline of the approach taken by Thompson in his discussion of contemporary perspectives in Trinitarian theology (200 words).

2 Select ONE chapter either (2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) for a more in-depth ANALYSIS on how ONE particular theological theme (salvation, the cross and resurrection, God and mission, worship, etc) is to be understood in terms of modern Trinitarian thought (i.e. how does Trinitarian thought make a difference to the way that we understand and/or practice them?) (600 words)

3. In the light of your discussion, conclude with an assessment of the importance of modern Trinitarian theology for the church today. (200 words)

This assignment allows you to focus on one aspect of modern Trinitarian thought and its relevance. You will be required to demonstrate the ability to analyse and critically assess the contributions of others, and to provide a cogent argument for the significance of Trinitarian theology for the life and witness of the church today.

Make sure that you CRITICALLY EVALUATE your sources!!! REFERENCING STYLE: SBL REFERENCING. Chicago Style is similar to SBL → first reference has a long format in footnotes → 2nd reference of the same source has a short format in footnotes → Bibliography of the same source has a different format in reference of the same source → so there’s 3 formats for each source repeated.
