Constituents of seam welding
The essential elements of a seam welding machine are:
- Main frame containing welding transformer and tap switch.
- Welding head consisting of the cylinder and head slide mechanism.
- Welding wheels, bearings and the secondary connections to the transformer.
Generally seam welding equipment utilises a direct acting air cylinder for pressure application. Either the connection from the head to the piston rod is adjustable or an adjustable stroke cylinder is provided for taking care of electrode wear.
