Assignment Task:
Write in consideration of Plato's and Whitman's thinking about civil war, America should or should not be a composite and, if not, what else it should be?
Construct the argument of your paper largely in terms of our study of Whitman, while indicating what you expect may be your argument about Plato in your final term paper.
This should be written with theorizing, outlining, and organizing the argument ( based on the questions above) and why you decided to make that argument.

Part 2-3 should then indicate why, on the basis of your study of course readings (provided last), you are inclined to make the argument you have chosen to develop and defend.
Part 4-5 of should then outline and organize your argument, whereby you state clearly how you at this stage in your thinking plan to develop your term paper's argument. Given the brevity of your term paper prospectus, you can be very general here while at the same time displaying knowledge of the texts we have read and studied and discussed leading you to choose the position you develop and defend in your term paper prospectus and term paper.
Part 6, which concludes prospectus and term paper, should be a list of your bibliographical sources, specifically the texts we read in class that you plan to use for your term paper, but also any secondary sources you have found that you believe can strengthen your argument. In class, I will point out on a weekly basis what sort of secondary sources you might want to look for that will help you to develop various arguments you may want base your term paper prospectus and term paper on.
