Confidence interval for the mean survival times

Below are the survival times for guinea pigs in a medical trial.

92 123 88 598 100 114 89 522 58 191

137 100 403 144 184 102 83 126 53 79

(a) Suppose we wanted to create a 95% confidence interval for the mean survival times of guinea pigs receiving this treatment. Can we use the t-procedures to do this? Explain.

(b) Bootstrap these data using at least 1000 resamples. Create a histogram of the resamples and describe the bootstrap distribution (shape, center, spread).

(c) Using the bootstrap distribution, calculate a 95% confidence interval. Compare this to a 95% confidence interval using t-procedures (you can use the function t.test(x) in R to get a 95% confidence interval).
