This assignment will assess the competency 6. Explore conformity, deviance, obedience, crime, and social control.
Directions: Answer the questions below in no less than one page and no more than two pages. The assignment should be submitted on Microsoft Word with default margins, using 12 point Times New Roman black font, be double-spaced, and be in essay format.
Conduct external research and read about the Prohibition Era. It lasted from 1920-1933. Focus on how the government handled the bootlegging network, from the rum-runners to the speakeasys, with law enforcement.
1. How did the federal government approach the crime of bootlegging and the organized crime syndicate that was born out of facilitating it?
2. How would a Functionalist, Conflict Theorist, and Interactionist view the Prohibition Era?
3. What is the federal government's response to various states legalizing marijuana (which is against federal law)?
