Conduct a risk assessment on graffiti gone by researching

Jessica has a summer job working for the city parks program. You have just been appointed as the WHS Officer for this program. She has been using a cleaner called “Graffiti Gone” to remove graffiti from the bathrooms. She has to take a lot of breaks, because the chemical makes her throat burn. It also makes her feel dizzy sometimes, especially when the bathrooms don’t have very many windows. On the label, she sees that the cleaner has methylene chloride in it. She feels like she’s managing to get the work done, but she is worried about feeling dizzy. She has come to you with her concerns and you tell her you’ll do some research and let her know.

1. Make a list of the actions you would take.

2. Conduct a risk assessment on ‘Graffiti Gone’ by researching the SDS, and any other information you can find.

3. Once you’ve completed the risk assessment, prepare a report for management outlining the findings of your research, the obligations of your organisation under the WHS Act, along with your recommendations.

4. In your role as the PBCU (officer) what will you tell Jessica when she comes back to you?
