The biggest catfish caught in the Catfish Chasers Tournament at Milford Reservoir in June 2013 was a record 82.5 pounds.18 In preparation for the next catfish tournament, a fisherman (familiar with statistics) randomly selected anglers from five different locations and recorded the weight (in pounds) of their last catfish caught. The data (in pounds) are given in the following table.
a. Conduct a one-way analysis of variance test to determine whether there is an overall difference in population mean catfish weights. Use a = 0.01.
b. Construct the Tukey 99% confidence intervals to isolate any population means contributing to an overall difference, and draw a graph to represent the results. Which site would you recommend for the fisherman to have a good chance at winning the tournament? Why?
