You are to conduct a counseling interview with an individual “client” on career related issues. You will videotape the session which is to be a minimum of 15 minutes.
When you are finished, you will critique the session on basic counseling skills, as well as relevant career-related techniques and issues. Be sure to identify which theory or theories you use during your session. Your critique is to be in-depth and include a brief description of the client and the issue, as well as the strengths and areas for growth. You are also to plan out what you would do if given another session with this individual. This can include assessments you would use, resources to bring into your work with this client, etc. You will turn in the video along with the analysis and critique. Your written work will be 3 pages in length.
Video Session Scoring Criteria:
- Basic counseling skills
- Ability to identify key issues related to career development
- Ability to plan the next session of counseling
- Ability to critique one’s strengths and areas for growth
- Ability to articulate a theoretical framework for the session
