Problem:
For Week Two's Discussion, I will be exploring some of the key motivational concepts related to addictions and additive behaviors including psychological theories of addiction, how drugs are similar or different from natural incentives in motivation, and the role of stress. According to Walden University LLC, (2024), An addiction is something that brings short term pleasure, but come with a variety of negative consequences, short term, and long term. It is normal for some people to feel depression or anxiety or to have some compulsions.
I will be doing a post on positive and negative reinforcement. I will be explaining the roles of positive and negative in addiction and explain the roles of addiction and providing a sample of each. Both positive and negative reinforcement are learning tools used in psychology and behavioral analysis, to increase the likelihood of a behavior recurring. Positive reinforcement strengthens a behavior by adding a desirable or rewarding stimulus at once after the behavior is performed. Me quitting cigarettes, being an addiction, would mean me living a longer life and being cancer free, is an example on positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement strengthens a behavior by removing an aversive (unpleasant) stimulus after the behavior occurs. Exercising every day has become a part of my schedule because it uncomfortable to have clothing that has gotten too tight. That is an example of negative reinforcement to me.
My question is "What are the strengths and limitations of addiction? According to Walden University LLC (2022), you are never to ask questions with "yes" or "no", to be able to gain strength and momentum for answering the question asked. One strength of addiction is perseverance. It includes traits like resilience, courage, and balance. A major limitation caused by addiction is impaired executive functioning, which means a person's brain is struggling with long-term planning, and impulse control. Need Assignment Help?
