Concentration of pollutant in the air


Problem:

The air over a city is modeled as a box, 100km on the sides and 1km tall. Combined effluent stacks in the area emit a contaminant mass load of 14kg/s into the air over the city. This air pollutant has decay with 8.5% mass loss per minute. Clean air moves into the city at an effective wind speed og 3.8m/s. The city recently approved a new industrial operation and expects an increase in the contaminant load to 17kg/s. Additionally, largely in association with its newly defined skyline, the effective wind speed shifts to 3.5m/s.
