Gambling is issue of great concern to those involved in intercollegiate athletics. Due to this concern, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) surveyed student-athletes regarding their gambling-related behaviors*. Of 5594 Division I male athletes surveyed, 3547 reported participation in some gambling behavior; of 3469 Division I female athletes surveyed, 1447 reported participation in some gambling behavior. This comprises playing cards, betting upon games of skill, buying lottery tickets, betting upon sports, and similar activities.

Let pM and pF be proportion of all Division I male and female athletes, respectively, who participate in gambling behavior.

Question 1. Determine pM - pF with a 95% confidence interval, where pM - pF is the difference in proportions of Division I male and female student-athletes that participate in gambling behavior. NOTE: Compute the sample proportions and to 3 decimal places; compute the standard error to 5 decimal places. Employ 4 decimal places in your answers for lower and upper bounds.
