The turbine inlet conditions in a simple Rankine steam power cycle are 30 bars and 500 C. The turbine exhaust pressure is 0.1 bar. The turbine is adiabatic with an isentropic efficiency of 100% and the pump has an efficiency of 100%. The cycle is modified to include a single open feed water heater operating at 5 bars. Sketch the cycle on a T-s diagram and compute the fraction of steam that is extracted from the turbine at 5 bars, for the feed water heater. The fraction extracted is defined as the ratio of the mass rate of flow extracted from the turbine to the mass rate of flow entering the turbine.
