PROBLEM 1:

Compute stiffness terms K(1,1) and K(2,7) of a four node quadrilateral plane stress element using full and reduced numerical integration and Gaussian Quadrature. Assume the following nodal coordinates:

Node 1: X=0.0 Y=0.0
Node 2: X=4.0 Y=1.0
Node 3: X=2.0 Y=3.0
Node 4: X=1.0 Y=2.0

Hint: Do not attempt this by hand. Use Matlab or Excel, or VBExcel. Include your calculation/code sheets.

PROBLEM 2:

Show that the Jacobian is singular
