Compute net work output per cylinder and thermal efficiency

A six cylinder, four-stroke, spark ignition engine runs at 3000 rpm. Each cylinder has a bore of 85 mm and each piston has a stroke of 88 mm. The compression ratio is 10.7. The processes within each cylinder are modeled as an air-standard Otto cycle. At the beginning of the compression process (state 1), the air is at 90 kPa and 27±C. The maximum temperature in the cycle is 1127±C. Determine:

a. show cycle on p ¡ v and T ¡ s diagrams

b. net work output per cylinder (per cycle), Btu

c. thermal efficiency

d. power output of engine, horsepower

e. repeat b.-d. using cold air-standard analysis
